Naval, Biliran — The Senior Citizen Association of the Municipality of Naval celebrated Elderly Week on September 11, 2025, with the theme:
“Dasig Naval: Enhancing Senior Citizens’ Mobility, Flexibility, and Engagement in Social Development.”

The celebration started with a Holy Mass at the Naval Gymnasium, followed by a program showcasing the government’s efforts to help senior citizens. Messages from local and national leaders expressed their support, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) introduced the Digital ID for Senior Citizens to make government transactions easier for the elderly.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Gretchen Stephanie Espina said that helping seniors is her top priority. She shared her plan for senior-led livelihood projects, such as a restaurant at San Pablo Blue Lagoon, and pledged support for the Senior Citizens Organization’s new building. She also promised continued health care, including free medical check-ups for all seniors in Naval.

Biliran Governor Dr. Rogelio J. Espina, MD, FPOA showed the provincial government’s support by pledging financial aid for every barangay in Naval. His presence highlighted the government’s commitment to making sure seniors feel supported and valued in the community.

This year’s Elderly Week showcased the energy and importance of Naval’s senior citizens and the dedication of leaders to improve their lives. The event proved the community’s genuine love and respect for the elderly.
