BILIRAN PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES “RICE RESCUE” OPS AFTER TYPHOON OPONG
October 11, 2025 | Biliran Province
The Biliran Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Rogelio J. Espina, M.D., has launched the “Rice Rescue” Operation to help farmers whose rice crops were affected by irrigation problems following Typhoon Opong.
Together with Provincial Agriculturist Brian S. Sinangote, R.Agr., and the dedicated OPAS team, the province is working tirelessly to restore water supply to farmlands and ensure the survival of rice crops vital to Biliran’s food security.
“There is no weekend in this mission,” said Governor Espina. “We will do whatever it takes to preserve our rice production and support our farmers.”
The Cash for Work Program plays a major role in this initiative—providing farmers both livelihood and purpose as they help rehabilitate irrigation canals and damaged paddies.
“This teamwork shows the true spirit of resilience and unity among Biliranons,” added Sinangote. “Together, we can overcome any challenge.”
Through these joint efforts, the Provincial Government reaffirms its commitment to protecting local agriculture, strengthening food supply, and uplifting the lives of its farmers.
