Harvesting Progress: Dagdag-Ani Fertilizer Exchange Program Fuels Agricultural Growth in Biliran.

Harvesting Progress: Dagdag-Ani Fertilizer Exchange Program Fuels Agricultural Growth in Biliran.

The Office of Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) announce the successful implementation of the Dagdag-Ani Fertilizer for Rice Exchange Program, a transformative initiative that has empowered 29 farmers in the Municipality of Kawayan. This innovative program, also known as the “Barter System,” is designed to bolster local agriculture through a sustainable and farmer-centric model.

The program introduces a strategic harvest-exchange mechanism that directly addresses key challenges in farming:

Farmers receive two (2) bags of essential fertilizer at a critical time in the growing season.

In exchange, farmers provide one (1) sack of rice (50 kg) upon harvest, eliminating the need for upfront cash and easing financial pressure.

This thoughtful arrangement is more than a transaction; it’s an investment in the future of Biliran’s agricultural sector. The program delivers significant, long-term benefits:

By guaranteeing access to quality fertilizers, the program directly contributes to improved soil health and increased rice yields.

It reduces production costs and provides financial breathing room, allowing farmers to invest in their operations with greater confidence.

Strengthening the farming communities of Barangays Tucdao and Ungale ensures a more robust and food-secure province for all.

The Dagdag-Ani Program stands as a shining example of how strategic partnerships and innovative thinking can cultivate prosperity from the ground up. We celebrate the success of our dedicated farmers and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the pillars of our community.
