Naval, Biliran โ In a bold move to boost agricultural productivity and farmer prosperity, the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) has launched a groundbreaking Mango Flower Induction initiative for the current year. Leveraging new and improved technologies, this program is set to transform mango production across the province, promising bountiful harvests and enhanced livelihoods for local growers.
The initiative operates under the innovative 60/40 sharing scheme of the “Prutasan sa Probinsya” Program, a flagship project of the ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ซ๐๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ๐ก๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐. ๐๐จ๐ ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐.

The program is designed to tackle key challenges in mango cultivation by promoting synchronized flowering, significantly improving fruit quality, and increasing overall yield. By adopting these modern agricultural technologies, farmers can achieve off-season production, access premium markets, and secure higher, more stable incomes.
One of the first to benefit is Mr. Manolito Gelizon, a dedicated Mango Grower Cooperative member from Sitio Lumbia, Barangay San Roque, Biliran, Biliran. With access to cutting-edge techniques and continuous technical support from OPAS agriculturists, farmers like Mr. Gelizon are now equipped to maximize their farm’s potential. “This support is a game-changer for us,” shared Mr. Gelizon. “It gives us hope and the practical tools to make our farms more productive and profitable.”
This program is a cornerstone of the Provincial Government’s deep-seated commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector. It reflects a clear vision of not just supporting, but actively empowering farmers through science, technology, and collaborative governance.

The OPAS team is conducting hands-on training and field demonstrations across the province to ensure widespread adoption and success of the Mango Flower Induction technology.
