The Training on Integrated Tilapia-Based Farming System (Tilanggit Production) cum Climate-Smart Farm Business School officially commenced with 37 members of the CaFishers Association of Brgy. Capinahan, Naval, Biliran, in attendance.

This 16-week, season-long program focuses on tilapia production, guiding participants through every stage—from pond preparation, culture management, and harvesting to producing tilapia in tilanggit size suitable for processing. The training aims to strengthen local fisherfolk’s knowledge and practical skills in sustainable and climate-smart aquaculture practices.

Beyond tilapia production, participants will also learn vegetable farming techniques, promoting an integrated farming system that provides additional food and income sources for their households while maximizing available farm resources.

As part of the program, fisherfolk will be trained in value-adding techniques by processing harvested tilapia into tilanggit (buwad), a dried fish product with market potential. This initiative not only increases the value of their harvest but also opens new livelihood and income opportunities for the community.
