In celebration of the 50th year of the Immunization Program in the Philippines, the Department of Health, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Biliran and the Municipality of Naval through its Municipal Health Office, spearheaded the launching of World Immunization Week on April 24, 2026, at the Caray-caray Covered Court in Naval, Biliran.
This yearโs theme, โ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐, ๐ด๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โ underscores the vital role of vaccines in protecting communities. It serves as a call to action and a reminder that ensuring every child is protected is a shared responsibility.
Resource speakers, Dr. Christine Dahlia Joboco and Dr. Catherine Bunales, Members of the Philippine Pediatric Society โ Biliran Chapter, highlighted the importance of vaccination in preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases such as polio, measles, pneumonia and pertussis, among others.
The event was actively participated by representatives from the DILG and PIA, along with Hon. Symonn Roa, Provincial SK Federation President. Also in attendance were the Barangay Council of Caray-caray, headed by Punong Barangay Jeffrey Merez, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), DOH Human Resources for Health (HRH), as well as mothers and caregivers from the community.
The successful conduct of the activity is a testament of the continued commitment of health authorities and local stakeholders to promote immunization and safeguard the health of every Filipino child. Ang Batang Bakunado ay Protektado!
