BILIRAN — Twenty-nine members of the Balaquid Fisherfolk Association successfully completed a two-day Coastal Livelihood Training conducted by the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) – Fishery Sector, as part of the Provincial Government’s Serbisyong Biliranon initiative to empower coastal communities through sustainable livelihood programs.

The program provided participants with hands-on training in crab and fish pot fabrication, equipping them with practical skills to enhance their daily catch and improve their source of income. To ensure the immediate application of these skills, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) provided all necessary fabrication materials at no cost to the beneficiaries.

The activity was attended by provincial and municipal officials, underscoring their shared commitment to strengthening the fisheries sector and expanding the reach of Serbisyong Biliranon through meaningful, community-based interventions.

The initiative reflects the provincial government’s continued investment in empowering local fisherfolk, fostering self-reliance, and building more resilient and productive coastal communities across Biliran.
