The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) has commenced the implementation of its road widening projects under the CY 2026 Network Development Program.

The district will implement six road widening projects this year with a total allocation of P226.7 million. Of these, three projects have already commenced in Barangay Salvacion, Culaba; Barangay Maurang, Caibiran; and Barangays Looc-Uson-Bariis, Caibiran, with a combined allocation of P144.72 million. The remaining three projects, with a total allocation of P82 million, are yet to be implemented along Barangays Masagaosao- Bulalacao, Kawayan; Barangay Talibong, Cabucgayan; and Barangay Calumpang in Naval.

Antonio said the district’s long-term goal is to gradually widen all existing concrete roads within the Biliran Road Network in accordance with DPWH national standards.

He emphasized that the initiative is expected to significantly benefit Biliranons by improving transportation, stimulating local commerce, and generating employment opportunities.
