The visit included learning sessions and site visits to milkfish and mudcrab hatchery facilities, followed by a productive discussion with SEAFDEC/AQD Chief Dr. Dan D. Baliao, together with fisheries experts and specialists.
The discussions focused on the current status of Biliranβs marine, brackishwater, and freshwater resources, their vast potentials, and possible technologies, programs, and technical assistance that SEAFDEC can offer to help develop the provinceβs fisheries sector.
According to Chief Baliao, Biliran was the first Provincial Government to visit the SEAFDEC/AQD facilityβan opportunity that opens doors for stronger collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
βWhat we learn today can become the livelihood opportunities of tomorrow.β
Together with our LGUs, BFAR, fisherfolk, and other partners, the Provincial Government of Biliran remains committed to turning the provinceβs rich aquatic resources into sustainable livelihoods, increased food production, and greater food security for every Biliranon.
From the sea to our rivers and farms, Biliran continues to explore, learn, and actβbecause a stronger fisheries sector means stronger communities and a more food-secure province.
Serbisyong Biliranon. Para sa Fisherfolk. Para sa Food Security. Para sa Biliran.
