The Province of Biliran proudly emerged as the Regional Winner in the 2025 Search for the Best Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Project in Eastern Visayas. The winning project, “Production of Organic Fertilizer from Market Wastes using DOST-ITDI Dual Drum Composter,” showcases innovation, sustainability, and strong community partnership.

A Glimpse into Biliran’s Past
Situated in the Visayan archipelago, Biliran’s history is as rich and diverse as its landscapes. Once known as "Isla de Panamao," it was later renamed after "Biliran," derived from a native grass that thrived along its shores. This island province holds stories of resilience, from early settlements to its role in the fight for independence.
